sp101 question

The cylinder locks up tight when the hammer is cocked and when fired but can be rotated with a liitle effort when the hammer is closed. (normal position). How hard is it to rplace the cylinder latch which looks like it may have been slightly filed. The latch rotates on the cylinder latch pivot which may be the difficult part to change. I can't tell if the pivot is a pressed fit or just pulls off and can be easily changed. Thanks, John

I think you need to send it back to Ruger. ...But if you want to replace the cylinder latch yourself, it is quite easy. It just slides off the trigger group but there is also a cylinder latch plunger and spring providing tension on the latch. Don't let them launch when you remove the latch. BTW you may want to replace the plunger and spring also. A weak or gunky spring or binding plunger is sometimes a reason for a weak latch. 8) 8)
