I guess he did not notice that the sights are about 2" higher on an AR than the barrel (where the bullets come out)

Could have been worse. Could have hit the engine. Since F series are number 1 selling vehicle,,, hood should be easy to find.

I've done it and I know two other folks who have. My local body shop guy says it is a frequent occurrence out here in the NW Colorado boonies.
I saw one once I has 5 minutes out of hunting Elk camp & we heard a shot, we were hope it was a Elk down...
Got into camp & a new guy decided to sight in his 338 across the bed of his new Ford now he had a hole about 2-1/2" in the opposite side of his truck.
We asked him to leave camp.

My boss shot his 44 Super Blackhawk out the driver's side window at a coyote running across a lease location. Muzzle blast blew the glass out of his rear view side mirror and the little triangle vent glass too. And he missed the coyote. I was sitting on the passenger side with my fingers in my ears looking away from him so he would not see me giggling with tears running down my cheeks
I used to have a white F100(before I realized just how crappy FORDS really were). It had numerous gray "blossoms" on the hood from muzzle blasts. None were actual bullet strikes, though.
That performance drowned any credibility "Sootch00" might have previous had in my book.

Been there done that with brother-in-laws '69 Chevy impala. Also watched my dad blow the drivers door mirror off of his bronco while shooting at a ground hog. Scope cross hairs where on the ground hog. Muzzle was on the mirror. Glass went everywhere and the rubber ring off of the glass was hanging on the rifle barrel.
