Today I let myself into a customers house, no one at home and they told me where the key was hidden and I go in to work and their TV is on MSNBC and the big constant news is Trump cancelling the summit with North Korea.... after about 30 minutes of talking heads they switch to a multi-picture screen and the main part it seems is of the room the Pres. does press conferences or such in... and there are all these people just standing around... 30 minutes later I realize all the same people are still just standing around doing absolutely nothing.... what function do they serve and they actually get paid for this?

Now that I've thought about it for a while, I'm wondering if what I was watching was a loop... 30 minutes and no one had moved from where they were originally standing.

No, that's how they actually work. An appearance is just as good as doing something

That is the White House Administration standing around to support the President when he makes an announcement.

So, you sat around the customer's house and watched TV for a half hour
or so...........

Some targets just beg to be hit!

Yeah, sounds just like that "pots and kettles" thing. :P

They get paid whether they produce or not, so why not? Just pass the coffee and donuts, and everybody is happy.

good burn! but no, I was working all the time and just kept glancing at the TV and as I was cleaning up realized all those folks were still standing in the exact same place when the picture first came up on the screen...

Now with that said, twice I've worked for a few days at the Whitehouse and both times I had to learn to just stand around and wait. Seems in government work that is pretty normal... the last time we had to sit around out side the main employee entrance for about 2 hours because Mrs. Bush (the 2nd) had come back and was having a tea party on the 2nd floor. Good buddy who I had nominated for that trip and I lit up cigars and got some evil looks from those folks going in and out.

Here's a picture of him.... USMC retired Gunnery Sgt.

We stood around "LEANING" on shovels. BUT, I say that again, BUT we actually did do something after the "BOSSES" told us what to do....LOL

I used to make fun of those guys standing around leaning on their shovels while one person dug and then I tried to dig a hole in S.C. red clay all by myself and actually saw it a different way.
