Why do people say

Why do people from the upper Midwest call a console a council? Why do we down south say we are fixin' to XXX?

My late uncle used to say "dreckly" as a modifier. Country version of "directly" but misused.

One of my helper trainees misuses "necessarily" half a dozen or more times per day. It is generally used with the negative "not" to show the difference in a certain a situation but he uses it as a positive ... "What is necessarily the reason we do XXX?". He also shows agreement by replying "bet" and expresses sorrow for error by saying "my bad, Nate" 20 times per day.

Most everyone on TV and in my life pronounces "jaguar" incorrectly as "jagwire".

My Dad used to love these discussions. As a former software editor, he saw the error in speech and writing as easily as in code.
I'm fixing to go to the next comment directly. Directly does not necessarily mean now, but can also mean sooner or later. Fixing means I am preparing to. My late law partner drove a jagwar but I bet he got rid of it because it was unreliable. I never say My Bad because that would admit error. :)

If you don't eat meat, and can't spell vegetarian, you can say Vegan- but this word is pronounced with a SHORT "e" as in Las Vegas, the Chevy Vega, and the star of the same name. If you want to pronounce it with a long "e", add a damn second "e" to the spelling.

OK, here comes trouble: The word "woke" is a verb in the past tense being misused as an adjective in the present tense.
