I am looking to buy a blued 6 1/2" Single Six in 22LR/22Mag . I have noticed that several vendor websites list a model 0679 that is described as a "high polish blue". The 0679 is significantly less expensive than the standard model 0622 on most of the sites that list both.

There are a few "Dealer Exclusive" Single Six models shown on the Ruger website, but the 0679 is not among them.

Does anyone know about this model or can point me to a spec sheet that has more information?

Any help would be appreciated.

Ruger uses a number system to mark their guns now. But for decades,,, they used a different system,, such as; "SC5" which was for a Single Six 5" bbl. They still use that type of info to describe the exact features of their models,, and the model number you mentioned is more for their inventory information. We consumers use the other info to describe the guns. Most of us do not have a list of the model numbers like you have asked about.

0679 is a NR6.

0622 is a NR6L.

In Rugerspeak, NR is a blue New Model Single Six. 6 means it has a 6-1/2" barrel. And L means it has the internal lock in the grip frame.

Why there would be a price difference I can only venture guesses. When they were procured, how much the distributor paid for the batch, and how badly the distributor wants rid of them. In my experience, the model with the internal lock is less desirable to many folks, so it seems that should be the cheaper of the two. As far as I know, the NR6's are no longer available with this internal lock. Also, the NR6L, being NEW OLD STOCK, the distributor may have paid more for these a couple years ago when Ruger was still making them, as opposed to recent manufacture new inventory, in which Ruger may have cut a deal to get rid of them cheaper.

The NR6 and NR6L are catalog numbers.

0679 and 0622 are Model numbers.

The internal lock in the grip frame was eliminated in 2012.

Vendors may have gotten some old 0622/NR6L old Ruger inventory.
