Sights

My NM SS (4 5/8") shoots high at 50 ft and the rear sight is lowered as far down as it will go. I need to hold about a half bull low in the white to get the center of the targets (B-2 and B-3 ). Has anyone encounter a similar problem, and if so, what was done to correct it?

Ruger seems to forget that the general front sight height axiom applies to rimfires as well as the centerfires.

The shorter the barrel the taller the front sight!

Me? I need tall front sights on long barrel guns so I also struggle with the shorter barrels.

Ah, but the OM Super Single-Six and the NM Single-Sixes utilize "screw attached" front sights. The "screw on" front sights for the Target Model .22 Autos will fit on a Single-Six barrel.

So, I'd suggest finding a front sight off of a short barreled .22 Auto that has the fully adjustable sights.

I found a taller front sight for this .22 and, if my one functioning brain cell's memory bank is still working, I believe the model RSSM's, .32 mag. centerfire Single-Sixes have taller front sights that'll work perfectly on the .22 cal. barrels.

My 6 1/2" Barreled Single six did the same thing. I took the rear sight off and filed the bottom some to get it to set lower.

what are you shootin'? .22LR or WMR? My SS (4 5/8" barrel) is sighted in well with the mag's, and shoots a little high with the LR's and a little low with shorts (go figure). Probably doesn't help you any, but I try to shoot mine frequently enough to remember how to adjust my aim to compensate.

I am shooting the WRM. I do not have a .22LR cylinder that I trust to use in the NM. I was seriously thinking of removing and filing the lower section to allow a bit more adjustment. I know what to 'hold' but would like to have a correct sight picture rather than a 'little white at the bottom'. That is a bit 'iffy'.

I checked and my target model MK III678 has a pressed on sight. My 22/45 has a screw on but it is the same height as the NMSS.
