Sig recall, or is this a joke?

The recall is true. Just Google it and you can read about it from multiple sources not just Newsweek.
I might add that it does seem silly until children start dying because of it. Sig would then be sued for millions and lose the case hands down. Since all the red dots will probably not be recovered Sig could be sued successfully even years in the future if one of the red dots which was not returned caused a child's death. People are impulse buyers and one of these recalled Red Dots could sit in a person's home for years still new in the box until a child finds it and dies from it.
Newsweek contacted SIG Sauer via email on Sunday for comment.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) has announced that global firearms company SIG Sauer has issued a nationwide recall of approximately 230,000 ROMEO5 Red Dot Sights due to non-compliance with federal safety regulations regarding button cell batteries.

I'm still going to have to quote another member here... "We are doomed!" if a company has to recall 230,000 items because one kid swallowed a battery and chocked on it then think of all the items we have around the house that need to be recalled for one reason or another. A goodly number of years ago a small child fell over in a five gallon bucket of water and drowned..... seems our government spent a couple million dollars doing research on how to modify buckets so they would be safer and finally came up with buckets need a label on them warning folks about this....

Many of the seemingly stupid expiration dates, water, salt, honey, etc, are due to being packaged in plastic. It’s the container that expires and leaches into the product.

In this day and age "I AM SUING !" is the way many go. Common sense has nothing to do with it. Coffee cups with warnings the contents are hot, everything ever made that is sold in California causes cancer, butter recalled (as mentioned) because it doesn't contain a warning that is has milk in it, as already said peanut bags stating they contain peanuts, and on and on. The door to my 'man cave' should have a warning sign: "Be Advised!~ All kinds of stuff in here that will hurt you."
