Since I got back from Calif. I have been sick with the flu or a cold or ?? Head aches, nose runs, lungs wheeze joints ache and I have no energy.
Yeah, I wore one of the face masks both ways, but they pack you in so tight it doesn't really help.
I am taking my COPD meds and using the inhalers, but still wheeze like an old steam engine.

What happened to flying?

I have been taking Vitamin C since 1996, I can't remember that last time I had anything approaching a cold. Several others I know report the same results.

Way back in another life time I was told that if you take 250mg Vit C,
(two the first time and one thereafter) with eight ounces of water . . .
PER HOUR . . . if it is not a virus, it will be gone in one day.

Every time I've used that, it sure does well for me. :D
(you wear a path to the little room  , but it works)

The tendency for the last ten or so years is to take mega doses of Vit C.
Turns out that your system will only accept a little over 200mg per hour.
Any more than that is flushed out of your system, presuming you drink
enough water.

Had the same crap for about 2 wks and I haven't been near anyone with the cold or flu plus plenty of hand washing and wiping down things to avoid the flu.
Took Coldeze and EmergenC Energy and Immune and it pulled me out of it!!

Vitamin C definitely, lots of fluids and avoiding high humidity areas. As much as I hate to say this... you may want to check & see if you have been exposed to TB depending on the part of Cali you visited. With the number of illegals there that tend to shun inoculation added to the fact cortical steroids sometimes mess with your immune system it might be a concern.

I'm just getting over it too. I've had it for almost two weeks also, and all I did was go grocery shopping to get it.

Here is a recipe that WORKS. No cure, but makes you feel tons better.
8 oz glass of warm to hot lemonade (Simply Lemonade brand recommended). Then, just before you drink it, pour in 1 oz Bourbon (just about has to be Jack Daniels). The reason for drinking immediately is the alcohol will evaporate pretty fast out of a hot drink.

Of course, this is in addition to the obligatory chicken soup. +1 to the homemade part. If it was homemade by a GRANDMA then it is even better!

Let's see, cram lots of people into an aluminum tube a few inches apart for hours, mix in air from inefficient filters (if cleanded at all) and we have invented a biological test cell.

It's still hanging on; Taking Vitamin C and Zinc, along with all my other meds; SO far I've lost just over 10 pounds, head aches and temps that run between 98.6 and 99.9; Still using my cpap machine and my COPD meds; Did I mention slurping down some OJ loaded with pulp.
If not feeling better by Monday, I'll make an appointment with my Primary Care at the VA and hopefully be able to squeeze in to see her.

Sorry to hear about you COPD; and flying took a long journey into Hell and Oblivion, and now it reeks.

I live in San Diego...we have had the huge epidemic of a virus and also flu..the hospitals were crammed and several had big outdoor event tents outside to segregate patients...
I have "severe to end stage" COPD...asthma and one lung not functiioning due to a ruptured phrenic nerve that paralyzed one half of my diaphragm....I'm a walking pulmonary disaster and my pulmonary doctor watches me like a hawk...I'm 80 so do have one advantage...I don't have to go anywhere or be around anyone at all....my Wife and I just have stayed hunkered down all winter...we did have the "high dose" flu shots in November (the double strength shots that work well for us) and we carried little bottles of hand sanitizer all the time....we washed our hands constantly and wore masks if we went much of anywhere...there have been thousands of cases of flu and virus this winter and several hundred deaths from the flu related problems...so far we have been lucky and are still "hiding out"...The stuff is deadly and if I get clobbered I'm probably not going to have much luck with getting well....Doc said to stay away from any hospital or nursing home (we have friends in both) and I can't ride airplanes at all so no issue there.

If you happen to head toward California (and I know most won't anyway) wear the little disposable masks if you are in crowds...better to look silly than to have the flu.
