Show me some blackhawks

Well here's my 1975 NM Super Blackhawk .44mag. Its time for this old, beat up thing get re-created. Cosmetically, I'm looking into wood grips, barrel shortening and re-blueing. Give me some inspiration by showing us your favorite Blackhawk and if you don't mind let us know what you did to make it so perty.

You are right, that gun does need new grips! Here is an old model blackhawk that has had the barrel shortened, a steel two piece grip frame installed and one piece ivory grips by Nutmeg Sports. Jim Stroh did the mechanics and the refinish.

My sweaty grip ruined the finish on this blackhawk despite efforts to keep it oiled and cleaned (it was always a shooter) So, I intended to shorten the barrel and get it refinished. Brenda Lea refused to let me shorten the barrel, so, she paid for the nickle finish and the action job. The stock factory grips were plenty good enough looking so we kept them

I have a similar project.

As of now I am working on some fitting...still have to do the top half. Yes, shooter only but all mine are such and all have my custom touches because I'm a tinkerer and like personalized things.

Those case hardened guns are really nice. What's it take to get it done? I'd expect its pretty expensive but I'm considering it's. Who does it?
**edit: answered my own questionTurnbull charges $150 for disassembled and pre polished SA revolvers.

Here's some .44's

The Upper Left is a Flat Top made in 1958.
Lower Left gun is a mild custom Super Blackhawk. I had it made with a 6 inch Douglas Barrel, a David Clements front sight and a steel ejector rod housing. I made the mods due to a flaw in the bore of the original barrel. A nice size hunting gun IMHO. Clements did the gunsmithing.
Lower Right gun is an original Super Blackhawk
Top Right is a Super Black Hunter with a Bushnell 2x6 scope. I had to make a spacer to fit under the front of the scope because of it's length. I took my first handgun white tail buck with it a couple seasons ago.

I've been away from this board for a while for various reasons but I still have a lot of pics on file that are appropriate for some of the threads. Some of you may have seen them before. I hope you don't mind seeing a few of them again. I'll try not to bore anyone with too many repeats.

Here's a before and after pic of a gun I built several years ago when I had a lot more ambition to tackle a project like this. It was well worn, ugly and freckeled externally but it was a shooter.
Here's the before.

I cut the barrel to 5 1/2 inches, I polished out all of the surface blemishes by hand. I made a tool and cut the black powder chamfer on the front of the cylinder. I polished the grip frame and had a set of checkered walnut grips made. I made a front sight, added a Bowen rear sight and a steel ejector rod housing. I did an action job and set the timing so there's no drag line. I then sent it to Clements to braze on my front sight, blue the gun and color case harden the hammer.
