Made it painfully through the gun show walking with my granddaughter and her kids. For the first time in quite awhile I saw some decent Rugers. Not many but a couple old three screws one in 30 carbine with a box, a security six and SP101. I brought the. SP101 home..
It is a KSP-183–3, 38 special with the original box and outer shipper and the paperwork. Got it for a decent price after a little bit of haggling.
The guy I bought it from bought a group of French police guns and had the one Hogue lanyard grip left over that he put on this gun. It also comes with the original black insert grips.
Here’s a few pictures

Very desirable ….. because of both caliber and barrel length!

Congrats

Funny, I just bought a SP101 at a gun show today, too, but it's a .22 LR with the 8 round cylinder and 4 3/16" barrel.
This is the first SP101 I ever owned and my first revolver that holds more than 6 rounds (because I usually buy old revolvers). It was made in 2013. Look yours up here: https://ruger.com/dataProcess/serialHistory/
Included was the plastic case, manual, original receipt for $400 thirteen years ago and a bunch of Wolff springs the original owner probably intended to install (how difficult is it?). The single action trigger now breaks at just under 4#. Double action is pretty heavy.
Hr was asking $650, then said he would take $600 for it. Ended up I gave him 24 silver half dollars for it, which I paid $84 for in 2002.

Since mine came with Wolff mainsprings and trigger return spring, I went ahead and installed them. It was pretty easy. Now the single action breaks just under 3 pounds and the double action, which I have no way to measure, is noticeably better. I think I'm gonna enjoy my SP101.

Nice! I had one and let it slip away from me, wouldn't mind finding another, and .38 special is no problem for me, actually kind of prefer it in a sp101 or Smith & Wesson model 60.

I had a SP 38 special made in 1987 that I loaned to a friend. He had a car wreck and died while it was in his possession. His wife sold all his guns, and the police told me that I was out of luck. I thought about reporting it stolen, but never did. Karma will win out one of these days….

I'd rather lose a gun than a friend.
