shooting method w/ RST6 (eye dominance)

Anyone else here right-handed but very much left eye dominant?

Last time at the range I didn't even realize it but I was shooting with my left eye. I know thanks to eye doctors that the eye is stronger than my right one, and is the dominant eye. It seemed like I had noticeably better accuracy.

Boy I love that '61 RST6! What a fun gun to shoot.

I'm just the opposite. I'm left handed, very much so in fact; however I've noticed over the past couple years, my right eye is sharper in focus than the left. I still shoot with the left eye and if I'm using a scope or red-dot it isn't such as issue, but on open sights there is quite a bit of difference.

Really isn't a problem shooting a handgun on the range. I'm both right handed and right eye dominant but my left eye is slightly better at the distance of the front sight(not using glasses). Depending on ambient light, I find I can shoot better using my left eye having a clear front sight than using my right eye and having the front sight a little fuzzy. The cross dominant eye thing really causes a problem when shooting a shotgun more than it does other types of shooting. My Daughter is cross dominant to the point we had to put a patch on her more dominant eye's glasses lense.

I'm right handed but the right eye doesn't work. I shoot rifle and shottie lefty and handguns right handed and twist the head so I'm using the left eye. Kinda goofy looking but works . For some reason trying to shoot it lefty is extremely ackward and the safest place to be would be in front of me.. Trigger finger works great with long guns but seems useless with the short stuff.. Heck of a cant with the long ones..

Actually, it's more common than you think to be cross dominant. Here are a few ways to enjoy shooting.
1. Place a piece of scotch tape over the lens of your dominant eye to make the weaker eye, which is on your dominant hand side, do the work. A lot of competition shooters do this.
2. Learn to shoot with the weak hand.
3. Turn the head slightly to align the sights using the dominant eye.
4. Cant the gun to where the sights align with the dominant eye.
5. Use a blackout patch over the dominant eye a lot to strengthen the weaker eye.
