Shipping question

I mailed a revolver back in January, UPS, it was $98. So yeah, their prices have gone up. Crazy.

Any excuse they can use to screw the customer. One way or the other.

I use UPS almost daily at work and it seems they've gone up a little on regular ground so not surprising next day has as well.

Just wondering why you would spend that kind of money when most FFL's will handle it for you, and utilizing a flat rate box, charge you far less??? My guy charges me actual cost, plus $20 for his part---a bargain compared to $98.

Just a thought, try calling them and ask.

Mostly because every time I have called, or tried to even set up an account, I have received bad info. Short version - I let the UPS hub (not a UPS store) set up my shipment to the UK on the buyers account. I received a $450 bill two days later that took weeks to clean up.
Plus guys here use them so I'm sure if there was a new rate it would be known.

Because, surprisingly enough, a lot of FFL's are either unaware or unwilling to use USPS. The lie that handguns MUST go overnight is so rampant that many think it is fact.

^ That's a fact! I had a Forum member with an FFL ship me a Ruger Bisley via USPS to a new transfer place. They went off on me and said that was breaking federal law. I tried to explain it to them, but they were having none of it. A year later I saw them at a gun show and they still said it was illegal

I've been shipping handguns USPS for more than 25 years, and I have NEVER had one go missing for any reason. (knock on wood :D ) The BATFE even tells FFL's that it is legal for them to ship handgun via USPS in their FAQs.

You know the postal service "if it fits it ships" slogan and advertising?

My FFL has me get him a flat rate box ...... I package the handgun but DO NOT seal it shut until he personally verifies the content, serial number, FFL copy, etc.

Yeah......usually costs me $20, maybe $25, to get a handgun shipped to the lower 48.
