Ruger accidentally made at least 94 (and I suspect when all is said in done it will turn out to be a full 100) with a regular serial number in the 520-21xxx range instead of giving them the SH25- prefix serial number the special Shootists guns were supposed to have.

S/N 520-21554 sold on GunBroker (11/5/10), auction # 198054651, sold for $799.99 with one bidder only, 369 views.

Have a line on one of these and will be forwarding serial number when I get it. Don't think it is on the list either.

Its just the label. Ruger made a mistake there. All of the "mistake" guns supposedly have Ruger's normal blue finish.

Just noticed this thread, but I have 520-21574, 05237, Blued, Red/brown Laminated grips. There was no date on the test fire envelope.

Two more just showed here this week. Came from Lipseys. Serial numbers 520-30586 and 5220-30606. The example of the two I got to hold was not the finest fitted FT 44 Special I've held. Grip frame to cylinder frame not exact, grips a poor fit, and the EJRH screw and housing got buggered with a wrong screwdriver. Nothing that affects a shooter but not the most pristine sample of the "Shootist Error Guns" I've seen. Label on end of box has standard info but is white in color.
