I'm thinking Ruger put the wrong "gray laminate" grips on that one example reported. Probably should have meant to put the red laminate on that gun. The gray laminate is generally reserved for the stainless SA's today.

All of the serial numbers in the 4xx range that I have seen have had the gray/black laminate grips on them.

Here's another one. 520-21238. I think this one was originally going to be one of the two we got, but didn't get that one...got another instead.

Bob,
Does the end label on the case say "Blue" or "High Polish" ?
You are correct they are all blued guns. I have not heard of any
of the 92 mistake guns having a High Polish finish, just boxs marked "High Polish". But I could be wrong too! .

Thanks Chad.

Yea...for a closer count though, go by the known blocks of 520-21224 to 520-21253 (30 guns), 520-21400 to 520-21429 (30 guns) and 520-21550 to 520-21575 (26 guns), plus throw in that high number 520-21909 and you get a total of 87 of the 92.
I'm not saying that's what Ruger did, or how they're sn'ing procedures work now, but would stand to reason with the way some things are coming from there now.

Gentlemen,
I located number 520-21223 which is a RNVB-445-SPCL, so that pretty well makes RNVB-475-SPCL. # 520-21224 the lowest of these guns.

After emailing back and forth with Chad and comparing #'s by Blocks it appears that there are 94 guns. As Chad notes "If you add in the six guns that are missing from these 3 blocks this would equate to 100 guns."
Which makes "Rugers 100 minimum order". Coincidence??? Could those
six guns still be at the factory???? after all the rest are accounted for as being produced and shipped. JMHO

Heres the link to the above gun (RNVB-445-SPCL. #520-21223) sure would be neat to pair it up with RNVB-475-520-21224.

Well...if somebody gets 520-21223 out of this GB auction I can hook you up with the person who has the "mistake" Shootists gun #520-21224.
Maybe between the two of you, both of you can come up with a mutual agreement. Would be a neat pair.

Chet15,
Got it added. As you mentioned in your PM that gives us
the 94 gun number. As to your theory on the 6 unaccounted
for guns (if this was a normal Ruger 100 gun minimum run)
I agree with you!! Time will tell!

So, here we Collectors rant and rave about a really amazing Ruger Single-Action Revolver.

Unless I missed something, I don't believe I've seen ONE IMAGE in this post that shows what the heck we're talking about.

Right?

PS Just how many Bisley's are out there with the sides of the hammer spur being blued instead of polished? Inquiring minds wanna know..... :D

Well, I got curious about your PS. I checked my 45 Bisley and the sides and top of the hammer are blued. On my 41 Mag Bisley only the top of the hammer is blued. My 44 special has the top and sides blued as yours is in your post. All have 7.5 inch barrells.

Anybody know if the .44 and .45 Bisleys coming from Ruger today have the hammer sides blued as well?
