Anyone know the height of the SS stock front sights? I'm going to order a Millet and they suggest differing heights.

Well, in my experience, with my guns and my ammo and my hold, most Factory sights are TOO SHORT. One must consider these things and remember that the heavier the bullet the taller the front sight needs to be.

So, my advice is to purchase two or three different heights......

You can always list the "extras" as for sale here on the Forum in the Classifieds Section.

dubltap, First off, you didn't mention your barrel "length"! The factory sight height is going to vary according to barrel length. On my 4" barrel stainless Security-Six, the factory front sight is .281" from the "top" of the ramp to the "top" of the sight. For my hold and shooting habits, that height is adequate for "me" out to 50 yards which is about the max distance I shoot it, usually at fox, coyotes or porcupines! As flatgate mentioned, there are "other" factors that also play into what height "you" may need according to your shooting requirements....................Dick

It's a 2.75" barrel. Just got it and the front sight is beat up. This will be a carry/working gun so I'm just looking for the correct height to give me POAPOI for defensive situations. I had a Millet on one I sold many years ago and loved it. I would like to stay with the same height as the stock sight on the 2.75". Thanks

I think Millett only offers 1 size front sight-model 100- for Security Six. I have one on my 2 3/4" and it works fine. You will need to drill hole for installation. They used to offer it with either white or orange bar. Midway currently lists only orange. Brownells website had no listing.

I would hurry if you want to order the Millett. I seem to recall they are trying to
get out of the sight business.
