Security 380 on Hickok45

Obviously he doesn't care for the 380. I have one and truly like it. Easier racking than the LCP. Less 'snappy' recoil than the LCP. Easy carry. And above all it hits where you point it.

I love my Security 380. I used to carry a Kel-Tec P32 some of the time, but I'm starting to get arthritis in my hands, so I was having more trouble racking the tiny P32 slide. I handled a Security 380 at a gun store (was with a friend who was looking at it) and loved the feel, and ease of operation (plus, it was a Ruger ;^). So I ended up trading my P32 for a Security 380; funny thing, the recoil springs on the two pistols actually require the same amount of force to compress (by my measurements), but the Ruger is MUCH easier & feels MUCH lighter because of the slide design.

After getting the Security 380, I discovered that it's a reloader's dream gun. One of the factors that limits performance of the .380 auto cartridge is overall cartridge length, which affects bullet weight and profile, as well as propellant volume. The Security 380 magwell will also accept Security 9 magazines, which let's me load .380 cartridges with a longer overall length if I'm using 9mm mags, and the Ruger chamber accomodates my longer reloads very nicely. Not only does that provide additional options when buying reloading components (I'm loading a lot of 115-125 gr cast bullets), but my specific example seems to produce better accuracy with the longer reloaded cartridges than it does with factory ammunition.

I have more expensive handguns, that most folks would consider "more capable" and "much nicer", but long term, I may end up selling some of those and keeping the Security 380. It's fun to shoot, fun to reload for, and fits my personal needs.

As always IMHO, FWIW, YMMV, etc., etc.

I watched the whole video and he explains why some folks would prefer the .380 over the 9x19. He doesn't want a .380 but he's a giant. At 6'8", he could conceal a Desert Eagle.

Just looks like Hickock 45 being Hickock 45. If I hadn't bought a Shield EZ 380 for my wife some time back I might be interested in one of these. I don't choose to carry 380 because I prefer other options. However, it definitely has its niche.

I’m not sure some here watched the video or maybe I misunderstood him. But, don’t think he offered one negative comment about the brand, the model or the caliber.

He said low recoil, easy to rack, reliable, 380 is no slouch, lightweight, etc. He gave reasons why some would chose 380 over a similar size gun in 9mm like the Security 9.

The 380s that failed for me ( not everybody ) were the LCP and G42.
However, the Walther PP and PPKs have been perfect.
Always wondered if it was because of polymer gun vs. metal.
Or, just my bad luck.

I have a KelTec P3AT and have found it to be very reliable. I bought an LCP because, "It's a Ruger so it has to be better." Nah. The P3AT has a nicer trigger and is marginally more accurate. My Walther PPs are .32 but never a hiccough.

The above clip is part of Hickok45's full review of the Security 380.

Beyond acknowledging the .380 has less power than 9mm and that some people prefer .380 in smaller pistols, I didn't find his comments negative.

".380 is no slouch"
"easy to handle"
"sweet to shoot"
"the Security 380 might be exactly what you are looking for"

Hickock45 is a goober repeating the same tired dad jokes in every video.

I used to watch his videos. He is knowledgeable, but his presentation is so frickin stale if you've seen one you've basically seen them all.
please let us know when your channel reaches 2.4 Billion views and I'll switch right over.

in the meantime...

Left out: "Very light and super easy to carry and conceal on all parts of the body with any clothes." (And sometime this is an important issue) (In my case I'm always in golf clothes since that's what I do)

"Pull the trigger fast enough and accurate and they're gonna go down
just like anything else."

Just because I don't have a successful YouTube channel doesn't mean Hickock45 hasn't become stale and lame.

But hey, keep sticking up for a millionaire goober who doesn't care to change anything about his presentation to be unique from video to video. Eat up that slop and ask for more of the same!

When he first appeared on the scene, folks were all "you gotta check out this Hickock 45 guy"

I did and was pretty much...MEH

I was impressed with his steel target array tho (y)

I doubt that he's a "millionaire" although being a millionaire isn't that hard today. Own a nice house and have a decent savings account and you're over a million today.

BTW, your use of "goober" is repetitive and stale.

Well, I'm not sticking up for him and he is no millionaire....he even briefly addressed his financial issue with medical bills from his motorcycle accident last SEP.

As for eating the slop I watch him every SUN morning with my coffee. Sort of a habit I guess. Why should he change? His viewers keep growing so why fix what is working?

Gotta ask though....why isn't your YouTube channel successful?

I think Hickok45 is just fine in what he does. He's just like everyone of us getting his rocks off shooting all kinds and makes of handguns and calibers that we only wish we had access to for comparisons along with our own private property for a shooting range. Plus, he gets paid for all the hits to watch him having a "blast." He's influenced me into buying a few guns as well as NOT buying some that I had my eye on.
You don't like Hickok45? Real easy...don't tune into his website at all and the biatching will stop. Guaranteed!:cry:

I've watched him for years and while, yes he is a little long winded at times, his reviews are always dead on. I'm also one of the ones he's referring to when he talks about getting older and losing strength in my hands. That's why I carry a Ruger Security .380. It's always nice when you can "relate." Ha

Hickok45 isn't a millionaire? 2.4 billion views? Add in sponsorships and the services he hawks for, and he isn't a (mulit) millionaire? :ROFLMAO:

And all I can say is GOOD FOR HIM whether he is or isn't. He's doing something that he loves and passes it on down to US who have the same interests and love for guns. I'm pretty sure making money on You tube was the furthest thing in his mind when he started doing videos. But hey,
if haters could put Jesus on a cross and kill him, there are plenty of other haters out there to blast somebody like Hickok45 and put him down. Ironically, it's those who actually own and love guns that post on forums!

The racking of the slide is to keep his masters at YouTube happy because it shows the gun is unloaded. I miss him field stripping the weapon like he used to but YT now considers that "modifying" the weapon and that is forbidden. Inserting a magazine in a rifle is also if it's a 30 round or more. You will hear Brandon Herrera say "it's loaded with 28 rounds" etc, ect. He tiptoes around things because YT is doing its damnedest to find a way to ban him from the platform.

He has always been kind of snarky about Ruger semi-autos anyway. Like anything Taurus, he almost chokes when saying anything positive about them.
