Security 380 on Hickok45

The S380 is a "big 'ole gun"? WTF?!?!

They are too small for my hands, but perfect for my wife, my mother-in-law, my daughter....

Years ago I had a Browning BDA like he mentioned and I’m here to tell you, it was a shooter.
Yeah, Beretta made some very good guns back then. My favorite of their 380's was their single action model 80s, but their M1934 was a close second. Both were slimmer/trimmer than the newer Model 84fs which they slightly modified to FN-specs for sale to Browning....All of them were/are accurate, reliable guns regardless of which logo was on the grips.

DGW

Hickok45 is my favorite gun guy on YouTube even through my tastes in guns are different than his. I own more revolvers than pistols, do not like Glocks, and the only long guns I own are 22 LR.

All my 380's are PPK and PPK/S.
I don't think there is a better 380 made.
Makarov. Great little .380, supremely accurate, built like a tank.

If I'm thinking of buying a gun I usually check Gunblast or hickock .45 as their way of thinking usually relates to mine.

The 380s that failed for me ( not everybody ) were the LCP and G42.
However, the Walther PP and PPKs have been perfect.
Always wondered if it was because of polymer gun vs. metal.
Or, just my bad luck.

I think the 380 auto cartridge is too powerful for a 10-oz gun like the LCP. The LCP would have been a much better gun if had been manufactured in 32 auto like the Kel-Tec P32. With respect to the G42, I bought one that I quickly traded because it did not shoot anywhere near the POA. On the other hand, my 24 year old Bersa Thunder 380, which is very similar to the PPK/S but with a much better trigger, has been absolutely reliable, is very accurate, and fits my hand extremely well.

Just because I don't have a successful YouTube channel doesn't mean Hickock45 hasn't become stale and lame.

But hey, keep sticking up for a millionaire goober who doesn't care to change anything about his presentation to be unique from video to video. Eat up that slop and ask for more of the same!
Wrong on all counts.

He has hit the 2.4 Billion count BECAUSE he doesn't change anything.

got a couple of 380s around here. handy little critters for light clothing, especially where carry is not popular and concealment is paramount.

modern ammo provides sufficient stopping power to carry with confidence for its intended purpose.

Mrs. Bee has had a g42 about 10 years that was an approved backup for dept. issue back then.

I have an original dao hammer bodyguard over 10 years, been reliable, no complaints.

bought an lc380 by mistake over 10 years ago. if I remember right, I was looking for the lcp and ended up with the wrong model.

didn't figure it out until I got home so I just left it in the box, still in the shopping bag in the safe now.

I also have its ugly cousin, an lc9 with integral laser I rescued for under a $100 and the kid gave me a box of ammo. 😬

not really in the market for anymore 380s but I might pop for an old beretta, walther, h&k, etc. if the right deal presents itself. ;)

The way Hickok45 shoots every gun you put in his hands makes me look pretty sad. He ticks me off! I still watch him from time to time though. I cheer when he occasionally misses one ;)

I have shot many .380s, my old Bersa Thunder .380 always seems end up being the one that everyone wants to shoot. Fits right, shoots tight. A .32 LCP would be perfect!

one of my favorite comments

Another good one! Thanks for the comparison. Mouse guns might not win at the OK Corral but they can get you out of Golden Corral !! LoL

while .380 is widely considered acceptable minimum for backup, personal defense, etc., is .32 acceptable?

Perfect...for WHAT?!?
Having something that goes bang rather than just a hand playing pocket pull on the crank. Even a sharp knife that goes "click" when you push a button is better than nothing. Some people have greater levels of paranoia than others.
More importantly, choose where you live carefully.
Alaska had the highest violent crime rate of any state in 2024, at 724.1 incidents per 100,000 residents, followed by New Mexico (717.1), Tennessee (592.3), Arkansas (579.4) and Louisiana (519.8).

You might not want to carry a .380 or .22lr, but would you like to be shot by one? If not, why not?

I actually own one.
I'll still go with the PPK's
I will admit the PPK will fit in a pocket and the Sig P230 won't unless you are trying to impress the ladies.... and some guys probably.
Also, you can't get away from that the PPK is known as 'sex in a holster'.... one of my favorite pictures I snagged off I think "Dr. No"

poor analogy.

I don't like bee stings however I'm not going to rely on throwing a handful of bees at a bad guy to stop him from harming me or mine.

remember the objective is to stop someone, not just to scare, irritate, or even injure them, but to stop them.

minimal acceptable stopping power is where I draw the line for what I'm willing to carry, not sound effects or how likely I am to land an eye socket shot.

It wasn't an analogy. It was a straightforward question. If you honestly think they're harmless, tell me what you think would happen if YOU got shot in the face, head, or heart with either? You'd keep walking like nothing happened?

Have you had to protect yourself or family from a real-life bad guy? How many times?

Then don't shoot them in their ass cheeks. Try the face/head/heart and do it with more than ONE bullet.

So are you saying that every time you are out with your wife or both wife and kids at the grocery store, retail stores, doctor, dentist, restaurants, etc. that you're carrying a 9mm or larger?
Look, I'm not promoting .22lr as a full-time carry weapon. It and a
.380 beats carrying nothing because a 9mm, .357 or larger can't be done due to the clothes being worn that are too skimpy and revealing.
In my case, I'm a golf pro. I wear golf clothes. It just flat out doesn't work to be carrying a 9mm or more. I have to, I must POCKET CARRY.
COMPRENDE?

Your response does not reinforce your supposition... ;)

I wear golf clothes
That explains it then......

due to the clothes being worn that are too skimpy and revealing.
....and that substantiates it.....

Have you had to protect yourself or family from a real-life bad guy? How many times?
Bee defended our country....and yep he had 9MM and LARGER....show your Expeditionary Force boat pics Bee!

Try the face/head/heart and do it with more than ONE bullet.
As if we needed to substantiate the silliness of your rant further......maybe stick to golf Francis.....bring a LOT of balls and don't worry about a hole in ONE...;):ROFLMAO:

Carry on.....
