Usually I would think it was the first build on a new Air Force base, but I could be wrong. :D

"The eleven-by-five foot “social pool” was placed in Southern California desert by artist Alfredo Barsuglia, who installed it as a nod “toward the phenomenon of large-scale Land Art installations in deserts around the American West.”

Humm interesting. I hope they have provided a way for the critters that might utilize it as a water source to escape it if they fall in. (might be a good area to hunt as the water would attract game animals). Also, kind of wonder if its on private land, BLM or mojave preserve land and how "legal" it might be if not on private property?

Hi,

Looks like that cover slides over to cover the water when not in use. Water's also apparently chlorinated. Dunno how well the critters might be able to use it unless someone doesn't "follow the rules" for its use?

Ok, looked at it again. The first time I looked the picture didn't show up for some reason so hence my questions but I see what you're saying about the cover now.
