I'm down to buying either a Weaver Classic 2X28 or a Burris 2X20 scope for my new Bisley Hunter. I'll not be shooting it all that much...mostly get it sighted in and then use during hunting season so quality-wise the Weaver would probably be OK. My major concern is the eye relief. I'm 6'3'' with a 34 inch sleeve length. I need to wear my "specs" for open sights on a handgun but get by without them on a scoped rifle.

The eye relief on the Weaver is 4 to 29 inches. The Burris eye relief is 19 to 24 inches. Based on this factor alone would the Weaver probably "fit" me better?

Is there any advantage to the larger object lens on the Weaver scope?

Again, this is a gun that will not be shot a heck of a lot and most shots taken with it will be in the 50-70 yard range (or less) in a mix of wooded and open country. Lots of possible ravine shots.

That Weaver has been on my short list for a while. It fits my budget. The Burris seems like a much better scope. The eye relief probably won't be an issue for you as both are very generous. As important as hunting shots are I would go with the Burris. Just my 2 cents. Good luck with your final choice. :D

I just got the silver Weaver for my 686. I'm 6'1" with a 35" sleeve.
I haven't sighted it in yet, hope to on Saturday. I was very impressed with the eye relief, clear optics and good sight picture. I hope it holds up to my expectations from Weaver. My only gripe is no end caps-easily remedied.

I also(required Ruger content)have a Simmons ProHunter 4X32 on my Super Blackhawk. It's held up well to Remington 180gr. JSP, and Winchester 250gr. PTHP- both healthy commercial loads.

On a side note, I like the Weaver Quad Lock rings. They hold zero, and don't move a bit. They are a little tricky to torque down- they rotate the scope as you tighten them. But when it's done, it's done.

I put the Weaver on my SRH .454.
Im 6'1" with 36 inch sleeve length and the Weaver works fine for me.
