Single Six Locking Up

I have a new single six convertible that I have about 200-250 rounds through it.
zero issues with it until yesterday when I used armscor ammo and if locked up and wouldn’t rotate a complete cylinder.
I tried 3 times and a no go with that ammo.
Changed back to cci and shot another 50 rounds.
I can’t determine why the armscor wouldn’t function.
Ammo bases seem fine but the armscor is a looser fit in the chambers and can fall out mostly where I have to shake the cci stuff out with effort when the cylinder isn’t in the gun.

Anyone have this happen to them before?

i remember having trouble with Armscor .22LR ammo in the past, but can’t remember what the exact problem was. I just made a mental note to avoid it from that point in time.

Sounds like a rim thickness issue in that ammo.

Not sayin it ain’t an ammo problem ….. justa reminder that 22LR is pretty dirty and a frequent cleaning schedule is best.

I always keep a brush with me. I’d think at a low round count it wouldn’t be that. I cleaned and then tried another cylinder. It wouldn’t run it but the next 50 CCI ran no problems.

It's hard to say if the same thing has happened without some detail to trouble shoot.
You haven't said where the lockup is happening?

Did you load one round and fire it, and did it lock up the cylinder when you tried to cock the hammer to cycle to the next round?
Were you able to cock and cycle the cylinder all the way around?
With 2 rounds?
3 rounds?
4 rounds?
5 rounds?

Were there scuff marks on the bottom of the case head(s), indicating the cases are backing out of the chambers and rubbing on the breech face?
Or were there scuff marks only on the crater mark around the firing pin dent, indicating brass is too soft?
Do you know anyone else with a Single Six that you could test fire the ammo in?

I’ll make sure and inspect the rounds. I will try and shoot it again tomorrow if I can and see what happens. I do have a buddy with one I can let him use the ammo also.

Your revolver is trying to tell you something ... It Does Not Like Armscor Ammo ...
It Likes CCI Ammo !
Feed it CCI and you both be Happy-Happy .
22 Convertible revolvers can be very ammo sensitive with both 22LR and 22 magnum ammo ... test and find what it functions best with and lay in a good supply ...
I have one that will not be happy unless the ammo is CCI !

That's also true of accuracy; find what shoots the best in your gun and don't look back.

If you get another single six, don't assume it will be its most accurate with the same ammo. It might, but it might not.

Very true about accuracy being different with different guns and different ammo. Years ago I just bought whatever was on sale or a lot of the time, whatever was available for that matter. So a lot of different brands and speeds and grains all different, which probably means a whole lot of different results. To me, if I am just plinking around, it's not a big deal but as they, it is what it is. I guess the best way if looking at it is just shoot the different stuff and just enjoy trying to find out what works best in your gun.

But this can't be. You have internet denizens who claim they never clean their firearms and have 100% functioning. And without any loss of accuracy.

Personally, I clean after every session and still have .22 lr that gives great reliability in one firearm but not another.

If th rounds are loose in the cylinder perhaps one is setting back when the revolver is fired. Or for that matter, if you raise the barrel to cock the hammer (al a Hollywood) one might be sliding back then.

Point the guns down and fire a few cylinders full.

I cleaned after the second cylinder locked up.

Reinstalled and second cylinder mayhe 3rd round jammed it up. Meaning 2 rounds fired. I really can’t remember.

Cleaned it and then the 3rd attempt did the same thing. So I abandoned the ammo and did not clean it again. Reassembled and then shot 50 rounds of cci with zero issues.
