Hello All,

Wanted to get a little help before I order some more wrong stuff. I decided to buy a 10/22 for plinking, pest control, etc. I wrongly assumed it came with bases, needed some stuff from Midway anyway, so ordered the following rings before I bought the rifle:

Being more of a revolver, bolt and lever action user, I'm not real familiar with the whole weaver mount thing and never really jumped onto the whole Tacticool thing. OK, so I decided I needed a weaver base that the above rings clamp onto. Thinking that keeping it in the family would keep it simpler, I then ordered the following:

No problem, I'm thinking. The rings say "Weaver style" and the base says "Style: Weaver". Both from B-square, whom I seemed to remember was decent quality at a value price.

Obviously, I was wrong. Rings are for a smaller base. Apparently Weaver and Weaver tip-off are two different things. Are there more variations than this?

Before I go ordering more wrong stuff, is this what I would need to use the above rings?

Yeah, I know. I own over 25 firearms and can't even figure out how to mount a damn scope on a 22. Before someone comes along and tells me I need to spend more money to get some better mounts, keep in mind this is for plinking. If I want to shoot at 200 yards or more, I'll get out the 22-250.

On my 10/22 (bought used), it has a factory scope mount for both Weaver and tip-off rings. My Rem. 572, only uses tip-off. Most .22s use only tip-off, mostly.

From what I can tell from the photo; yes, that APPEARS to be what you need.

Forgot to mention: Tip-off is the standard .22 scope base.

You might want to look for one that has Weaver and tip-off together in case you decide something for some reason or another.

Yes. In fact, that mount will take BOTH the common ".22 groove" rings (such as those you bought) AND "Weaver" rings. If you want to experiment later, you can swap several different scope setups (or even a red dot) onto your rifle.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Now that I understand a little more about Weaver mounts, maybe I'll drill and tap my old model Super Blackhawk so I can mount a flashlight and/or bayonet on it.
