years ago, back when I answered my work phone (poor and needed the work) I got a call from one of those law enforcement journals.... claiming to be the S.C. sheriffs deputy magazine or such... telemarketer went on and on.... I kept telling him no... finally I said I would consider it and send me a copy to look over... he said okay he would send me a copy and to prove we talked on the phone please give me your birth day... I know by todays standards that would be a big No Way...but this was way back then and even before Al Gore created the internet.... and so I gave him my birth day. Month or so later I got the magazine in the mail and realized it was published in Fort Worth Texis... did not even look in the cheap little paper back thing... just threw it away.....then I started getting bills for some advertising in it... I can't remember if I called them or they called me but had some guy on the phone wanting me to pay up... I finally said let me talk to your supervisor... he probably just handed the phone to the guy beside him... I explained what happened and that I had not authorized any add... he then asked if a certain date was my birthday and I said yes and then he said, "Now Mr. Blume you are a man of your word aren't you?... this is one of the few times in my life where I pretty much lost it... I gave this guy on the phone a demonstration of one of the few things I learned the year I went to the Citadel....he got a serious cussing before I hung up on him.
