Is there any trick to installing the cylinder latch spring in a single six?
I was able to do it, but it was not easy, do you need to install the screw first,
maybe that would have made it easier, keep it from rolling over?
latch side first, frame side first?

Thanks

Your questions are a bit confusing. What's your Owner's Manual tell 'ya?

Old Model or New Model? In either case the Manual explains the procedure.

Thanks flatgate, I was unconverting an OM. I tried to install just the cylinder latch and the spring before installing any of the pivot screws.

I thought maybe something like a flathead screwdriver with a little notch in the end of the blade would make this a really easy task.

once the spring is "on " the screw, (screwed in) ,LONG end forward, use a small screw driver or such to push this long ,front end down inside the frame and it will "catch" in the hole that is just below the edge of the cylinder frame....the 'short; end of course lays over the latch ( bolt stop)

I leave the short end unhooked while seating the long end... I've found it's much easier to push the long end down into its register that way. Then I snag the short end with a small hooked scribe & lift it up & over the latch.
