If I have a set of XR3-RED grips that I want to refinish, what is the best way to remove the medallions without damaging them so I can reinstall them later?

They will usually just push out from the back side. I use 1/16th punch.
IF they won't go THEN...
Fold a towel on it's self to ~2" thick place the grip on it and from the back give it a lot of little tappatee taps.
The Staking process pushes the metal out, but not all that much.

The small punch method works for me too. Just be careful with the wood...
