hi guys i bought a ruger vaquero stainless 45lc with a 5 inch barrel.its the large frame not the new vaquero.i own a few of these, but never saw a 5 inch barrel on one it also dosnt have a warning label on the top or bottom.if anyone has any info let me know i can get ser # if needed.

Could it be a 4 5/8 or 5 1/2? Stainless guns are easily buffed or polished to remove roll mark or "billboard". Not uncommon did you measure the entire barrel to include where it's threaded into the frame? I have a feeling someone removed the roll mark. ps

Howdy

Yeah, be sure you are measuring the barrel correctly. Revolver barrels are measured for their entire length. From the front face of the cylinder to the muzzle. Five and one half inches was a standard length for the 'original model' Vaquero. Five inches is not.

I'm with 'driftwood' gotta be sure of the measurement....and the stainless ones are quite often "polished" out,and the billboard removed........if its 5inch as said ,from the muzzle to the cylinder face, you got a "custom" redo.
Still a NICE gun, and if the barrel crown is "correct", and the chambers of proper size, should be a good shooter for you......PICTURES!!!

When Ruger moved the billboard to the bottom of the barrel it seems that QC got a little lax and a quite a few guns got out of the factory (could be any SA model) without having the barrel rollmarked at all. I know some people prefer to buff it off the barrel, but with the number of New guns I've seen without it I'd probably guess it never had it in the first place. Just seems a lot more likely to me than somebody taking the time and possible expense to buff it off.
