NIB TAC-30's Ruger branded magazine is pretty difficult to insert into the action. a modest amount of force is required to engage the forward "detent" (audible "clik") before rotating the mag into the locked position. Once in, it shoots great. Removal is somewhat less difficult but hard enough that two hands are needed to disengage the mag and roll it forward and down (one on the mag release and one manipulating the mag). Any suggestions? Thanks! :(

Mine works just fine, insertion and release are one handed. Have you looked into mag well with bolt open while inserting to see what could be the problem ?

first I'd try a different magazine or the 5 rounder to see if it is the magazine.... then I'd look at the composite stock and see if it is just too tight in the mag well area....I suspect some light trimming might be needed.

This is still factory stock, right ?
Yes and no HAHAHAHA
it was just as difficult in the factory stock. I had a NIB laminate stock from stocky's stocks on hand that is for the Mini-30. Ordered the mini-30 metal stock liner from Ruger as well as the lock washers and screws. Installed the liner but left it slightly loose (washers and screws installed but loosely) and the forearm liner (liner first then action liner) then tightened every thing up. Trigger group went in like butter and locked down. Whne I went to test the mag, ditto with the synthetic stock. Removed the action line (or whatever it's called) and tried to "spread it open" a little to see if it would help but there was little if any improvement. I ordered a promag 10 rounder today and also called Ruger. They are sending me another mag as well. :D

yup. can't see what's causing the problem. I know it's snug (my mini 14 is a TAC model) and it's no where near as tight just nice and snug. Dunno... :D

I also had the this problem with the stock reinforcement, my mags were tight. While the reinforcement is in the stock spread it out to form the stock, while installing they can collapse some, just get in there and pull apart the sides.
