Can anyone tell me the barrel diameter of a Mini 30 Tactical model 5868. I know it is a 16.12 length. But unsure if this the heavy or light barrel

Those specs I would not expect to find in the owners manual, any more than they are available in the specs via their website.

From looking at these, the barrel is not tapered ahead of the swell as it extends from the gas block. I don't have any Mini at my easy disposal right now, but I expect the barrel diameter to be the same as the diameter extending from the gas block.

And further, what's interesting, is they offer this tactical model in various chamberings. Not all their pictures show the heavy un-tapered barrel.

The lower photo depicts a Mini-14 in 5.56 or 300-BO....the upper is a Mini-30 (7.62x39)...in neither case is the barrel under the hand guard as thick as it is past the gas block.

I am hoping someone has one and be able to measure it
I have been unable to find it on line

Measuring mine front to rear:
The very end is turned down and threaded 5/8"x24TPI for the flash suppressor....Then the barrel itself has a slight taper which measures .760" from the rear of the front sight to .780" where it meets the gas block, then drops down to .5631" under most of the hand guard, then has step-ups of .750" for an inch and a half, and then .908" for the last 2" before it meets the receiver.....In other words, it is obvious to me that there is some sort of engineering going on there which is probably intended to help tame barrel harmonics. Not unlike Paul Mauser did with his Model 98 design....but whatever the reason(s), what Ruger did there works well. My 585-Series 5868 is the most accurate Mini-30 I've had, or used.
Anyhow, hope this helps.
