Hello,

I did not start the day planning on buying an AR-15.

Stopped at my local Cabelas and was searching out reloading components when I saw it.

I have owned many an AR over the years but they have all been traded for something else.

I like the feel of this rifle and it did not take long for me to make my decision.

Price for the "E" model is just plan right.

Would like to hear from all forum members that have one so I can learn from your experiences.

Pictures to follow.

Bill

I've only had mine 3 months or so and I haven't put that many rounds through it but I like mine. I bought some extra 3" rails off shopruger so I could add things if the urge hit. So far the only things I've added are a Redfield Counterstrike reddot and an angled forearm grip. No pics at the moment but maybe I can get one later today. As this was my first AR I'm not really sure what I want on it. I might change out the buttstock but I'm still on the fence about it.

edited to add photo

About 300 rounds down the tube, accurate out to 300 yards (max at the range I frequent), reliable , and much easier to clean than a DI gun. I've added Magpul furniture and sling, Burris optics, Geiselle SSA trigger and a Caldwell ar brass catcher(not shown in pic).

I got mine back in June brand new off gunbroker. I took it to the range and it would not chamber a round without force. It was etching the brass in a bad way.

I called Ruger and they had UPS pick it up the next day at my house. 5 days later I had a new upper and a couple of free mags back; they sent the new upper overnight. They sent my upper to manufacturing to find out what was wrong with it.

The new upper has been flawless. Compared to my other AR's it is heavier but it is a breeze to clean and I like it a lot.

Nice pictures fellas!

I took mine out twice this week and got my Nikon scope zeroed in and tried a few types of ammunition.

I have 150 rounds down range with zero malfunctions.

Likes the 55 grain reload V-max rounds the best.

My rifle has the worst factory trigger that I have ever used. That will be corrected as soon as funds are available. I still got just over a half inch at 100 yards with my reloads. This trigger is very very bad. I guess it breaks over 8 pounds and it is not smooth at all.

62 grain loads opened up some. Still not bad.

I have the ar556, without suppressor, was wanting to trade out butt stock but cannot get it to come off. Is there a trick to it? Or is it not removeable. I really enjoy this AR, is very accurate and fun to shoot. Thanks

Thanks bill. However my release latch is a "dummy". It doesn't function to allow movement. I took the screw out that holds that lever but stock still wont move.

Trigger problem has been solved. 8)

What am I going to use for gas money for the rest of the month?

$189.00 at local LGS. 5% off for retired military. Plus the tax..... $190 out the door more or less.

15 minutes watch YouTube video on installation and 10 minutes of actual install.

Problem is solved and this CMC trigger is simply outstanding! 8)

tef, mayhaps you live in a state where the stock needs to be fixed? Otherwise a call to Ruger service dept. may be in order.

Picked up my SR556E last month. So far I have only put around 75 trouble free rounds through it. I mounted a Burris Tac 30 1-4 scope and a Fast Fire 3 reddot. I equipped this rifle for competition in my local clubs run and gun event where targets are placed at anywhere from 3 to 200 yards. I am pretty sure the rifle is capable of far better groups than this, but the reticle on the scope covers over two inches of the target at 100 yards.

The stock trigger is heavy, very heavy. I do plan on doing something about it. I just can't believe how expensive replacement trigger assemblies are.
