My 1k+ guns:

In the foreground, a custom AR in .224 Valkyrie. Effective range of 1,000 to over 1,300 yards and up to 600-800+ yards for varmints/predators

2nd, A Ruger American Gen II in 6.5 PRC,. Effective target shooting range exceeding 1,000 yards and an effective hunting range of approximately 700 to 800+ yards for game like deer and elk

3rd is a Ruger Hawkeye FTW Hunter in 7mm PRC. Effective target/hunting range of approximately 1,000 to 1,500+ yards.

Finally, the big boy. Ruger Precision Rifle in 300 PRC. Capable of reaching 1,500 yards and beyond, even approaching 2,000 yards with proper loads and skill.

The .224 is the only one I have been able to stretch at all, but my shooting buddies and I are planning a trip to a 1 mile range in Price, UT for March.

I'm really liking that Ruger American.
I enjoy the idea of long-range. But my only one is a Bergara in 6.5 CM.
It's not very convenient to get into long-range while living in down state NY. 200 yards is the max locally.

I'm really liking that Ruger American.

I was quite surprised with the feel, fit, and finish on the American. It and the Hunter will be going to the indoor 100 Yard range next week for zeroes and first shots.

Nice rifles. I wish long range venues were a lot more plentiful. If I had to guess, I’d say 95% of shooters have only 200 yards at their local shooting ranges.

Locally I can go 300 by appointment (it gets awful close to CASS range). The 1 Mile course is about a 3 hour drive and will be a long weekend trip.

1000yd shots and beyond are very challenging but also very exciting. there's a special warm fuzzy feeling you get when you hear the ring or thwap 3-4 seconds later. :D

although surprisingly accurate, can't really call it a precision rifle.. but it sure does reach out and touch its target. ;)

I've taken some crazy long shots on large static targets like 5gal water jugs 1500yds+ that took a lot of time, some math, and a couple of attempts but left a big perma-grin after watching them explode and a nice applause from my friends.

unrelated to long range, but fun bit of trivia - I fired my m82a1 for a friend who was filming the first Barrett vs. Iphone videos and later other various tech and exploding targets. he focuses on slow motion and entertainment factor like shooting the first new model iphone out of the store he spent the night on the sidewalk waiting for. later he just used my rifle and shot stuff himself and now has his own. he shot a 'will it blend' blender, how many pumpkins will a .50bmg penetrate, silly stuff like that. my Barrett has a cumulative of millions of views on utoob and even known by Ronnie and his son Chris. I giggled like a little girl first time he called me. :LOL:

I had a couple. After realizing that there is really nowhere nearby to utilize them, I ended up trading them off…I sorta miss them, but not enough to buy another.

my bad, the 'it' I was referring to was my Barrett, not your Ruger.
