RUGER MAXIMUM

OK, haven't raised this issue for a while, so.......................anybody out there ever send a Max back to Ruger? I've got a couple of responses in the past, but, new members since then, so how about it? PM me with info, or give me a call @814-673-2100, God Bless, Coogs.

Claypool, Coogs knows to not send one back. He's wanting first hand, written documentation of what has happened when someone HAS sent one back. He has one of the best, if not THE best collection of Maxi's known. (It's the best I know of!)
He's looking for documented proof of what has happened.

I am sure they will tell you to send it in. What they won't tell you is if you will get it back or not. :(

There is another post around here I started after one of these discussions. Ruger WILL NOT KEEP IT! But, and there is always a but, they must first send you a return authorization for you to send it back, that they will not do as they no longer stock any parts to support the Max. Remember, they destroyed over 5000 completed serialized frames and completed guns!!! :shock: :shock: I would love to hear from someone who did send it back and Ruger would not/did not return it. I DO BELIEVE that that did happen back during the frenzied period of the early to mid 80's when the top strap cutting and forcing cone erosion started to show up. I am a doubting Thomas, I need proof! I've recorded lots of stories about my brothers friend, my second cousins neighbor's uncle, etc., etc., etc. But so far.................................I need to write a book, maybe at least an article!! Coogs.

It was my post. I know the folks involved.

There is no update. The OM was "confiscated" at Ruger and a brand-new gun was shipped in its place. No further explanation was offered, and the local dealer involved let it drop since he didn't really care about the OM and got a new gun to sell.

There were a couple of odd incidents during the situation, but since it was none of my business I let it go. More than one person here made noises like they were going to get involved, but nothing came of it. I have some suspicions, but like I said, it's none of my business.

Suffice it to say, a really nice OM convert "disappeared" at Ruger. Be forewarned.
