Ruger M77/22 Hornet action length

Can someone that owns both the M77/22 Hornet and the M77/44 tell me if the receiver length is the same on both of them? I was wondering about the possibility of using the Hornet laminated stock on a 44. I know there is a difference in the forward receiver screw area but I think that could be overcome with a modification. :wink:

Using an unscientific tape measure, my 77/22 Hornet and 77/44 magnum are pretty much the same length. Measuring from where the barrel comes out of the action to the rear tang, while the actions are still in the stocks. However, the 77/44 action looks like in may be about 1/8" wider than the Hornet action. Hope that helps,,, :)
