I finally got a chance to get to the range my 22 Hornet African. It may very well have the worst trigger I have ever had in a rifle! After sighting the rifle in I was able to shoot 6 rounds into just over an inch with it, I was surprised that I could do that with the trigger. So I have high hopes for the rifle as far as accuracy goes.
My question is does the 77/22 Hornet use the same trigger as a M77 or is it of a different breed?

It's different. The hornet uses the rimfire trigger.

I put a Rifle Basix trigger in mine. Almost a drop in fit. Had to relieve a tiny bit of wood on the inside of the stock, that can't be seen with the gun together. Set mine at just a smidge under 2 lbs. I'm very happy with it.

I installed a Rifle Basix Trigger this afternoon and what an improvement over the factory trigger! Thanks for the recommendation!

I was lucky enough to get the new lipsey 22 hornet African. I haven't shot it yet. Only complaint is My front sight looks off center. Probably should send it back to have it fixed one of these days.

Years ago I installed a JARD trigger system in my 77/22 Magnum. I believe it was the 1-1/2 or 2# pull. It made a huge difference. It was, "when will this thing gonna go off" for factory trigger, to get on target and touch trigger. It's a light trigger, but NOT unsafe.

Exactly how mine was, it literally left an imprint on my finger from applying pressure! I like the Rifle Basix trigger. Jard makes some great triggers!
