I had inquired recently about the old style GP-100 grips on this forum and got some good information. I was surprised how quick and easy it was to
get set up. I thought I'd just put in a quick nutshell here.

Midwayusa has the compact rubber grips for $8 and change, along with the grip locator for $2 and change, plus shipping.

A gentleman that goes by 1chig sells beautiful wood inserts on ebay for between $17 and $19. Great selection, great to deal with and the inserts are VERY nice. Just search under "sp-101 grip panels" and a large selection of his stuff pops up. Be sure to tell him when you buy a set that they are for the GP100 compact so he can drill the locator holes.

I know that the GP-100 compact grips are my all time favorite handgun grips and wanted to let those who also like them a lot and would love to replace their Hogues with them know how quick and easy it is.

My highly polished 6" now wears them with Coca-bolo inserts and looks amazing. If I knew how to post pics I'd do, it but I am a techno dinosaur.

I went to Midway and picked up a set of Lett type compact grips for my 3" GP. I also have the full size if I decide to try something different. I also have purchased panels from 1chig on eBay and fit and finish is extremely good. Here is a picture of my 3" with the compacts and 1chig panels.

This GP originally came from the factory with the Hogue full size grips.

As a GP100 nut I have about 10 each of the full size and compact grip bodies, in case I need them for future GP100's or Super Redhawks.......there are quite a few aftermarket grip panels that can be used.

I set my 4" up with the compact grips and inserts from forum Member .41 Magnum. I am very impressed with his work. I also have a couple sets of Altimont inserts that are very nice.

And I also have a few extra sets of the rubber laying around for future GP purchases.

I got some custom sideplates made for my GP100.

This guy does top notch work and can get quite a few medallions to put in them.

The last time I looked, Ruger had some more of the compact grips, on their website, with roswood inserts.

Thanks for the thread, finally motivated me to order a couple sets from Midway yesterday. :)

And, I've asked Ruger, they say they have the bigger grips but not the smaller ones.
