I received a settlement check today for the Ruger/Freestyle data breach incident.

It was 5 or 6 years ago it happened. Fewer than 200,000 customers had their data shown. Never good but a pretty small number all things considered.

I never respond to these, "get your part of the settlement," letters. Most of the time you spend hours, or days, gathering information, and get $50.00 for your efforts, while the attorneys get millions!

Anyone remember the Remington shotgun barrel settlement on 870s? What did we get? 30 bucks per gun or so?

The only folks who make any decent return on investment for a class action suit are lawyers.
And who pays these outlandish settlements? Consumers.

There is not now and never has been a "free lunch".
