Ruger Charger with a brace

I'm going to bump this... just because ... I don't know what a 'brace' is.
While this isn't a brace for a charger, I believe something like this is what the op is referring to.

I don't know about a brace, but it would be pretty easy to swap out the Charger stock for a regular 10/22 stock and have a super compact SBR. Be great for a suppressor....
I looked at the link and it sure looks like you are adding a rear stock to the pistol and just calling it a brace.... I wonder how the BATFE feels about this. And as mentioned .... you can put a 10/22 stock on a charger and with the charger's short barrel.. then you have a short barreled rifle and need to comply with the unconstitutional NFA rules.
The ATF recently revisited their opinion on braces added to pistols, and right now they have decided that adding a brace does not "redesign" the pistol into a SBR, nor does sometimes shouldering the brace.
Of course their opinions are subject to change, so I prefer the $200 SBR stamp for my own uses.

Back when I did my SBRs the only "brace" available was from Sig Sauer and it was selling for $179.
For $21 more, an online form 1 and 3 1/2 month wait and I can now put any stock or fore grip I like on my Charger without worry over the fickleness of the ATFE.
Have you looked at the cost of the adapter plus a KAK brace setup (including buffer tube)?

Yep. Braces have gone way way down in price. Secondary market even more.
I love all these internet commando experts that are afraid to purchase and use something that's legal. Then complain non stop on a forum that your just asking for trouble from the atf if you buy a brace because it looks like a stock!

For me, SBR means I can run a stock long enough to comfortably shoulder, as well as something which is comfortable to shoulder. The Shockwave brace, Sig brace, etc aren't exactly cozy on the shoulder, and with my wrist, elbow, and shoulder issues, cuddling up that close sucks.
I like the Shockwave brace - I run it long enough to get the SBR paperwork back. Now that the ruling has gone back the other way, I might not send in a couple of the SBR's I was planning for my wife and my son.
There are Ruger Charger stocks/chassis which accept an AR extension, Not really my style, so I haven't ever done one, but with the popularity of the 10/22 and tacticool rebuilds, I'd bet thousands of guys have combined the two.

So, y'all are telling me I can put a 10/22 stock on my Ruger Charger and it is not a short barreled rifle and perfectly legal with out a tax stamp. I can't for the life of me see the different between a 'brace' and a rifle stock.

ATFE is the one who sees a difference between a stock and a brace, although that is a recent opinion.

in other words best example is an AR15 that they cut down and made a long pistol, much like the Ruger Charger but much cooler looking and probably even less practical ..... So, with the AR pistol you add a rear adjustable stock and call it a 'Brace' and it seems the ATF says 'okay'... I'm suspicious of this. And I can see myself debating it with a ATF agent and sheriffs deputy on the way to the local jail... best case outcome is they find out they were wrong in anything from a couple hours to days.....
I have no experience with this other than I've heard from a good friend who is a licensed manufacturer of 'destructive devices' (this includes full auto) that half the time the ATF investigators/inspectors can't keep up with the rules.
9x19 I agree.... who knows what they will decide next..... I prefer to air on the side of caution these day.... I'm a little concerned that I have to fly into Las Vegas the end of Nov. with guns.... I assume the buearacracy will remain too large for me to be noticed.

Words have meanings, as in "specific" words. A STOCK is meant to be "SHOULDERED". A "BRACE" is not but can be.blume357 said:

You cannot put a short barrel on a rifle without approval. You can put a long barrel on a pistol (if your state doesn't restrict it)
Charger w/brace???????? Heck I haven't even figured out what the Charger's real purpose was in the beginning except an "enticement" to assemble an illegal SBR(or similarly illegal "stocked" pistol).
