I have a new S/S Ruger Bisley convertible in .45LC/.45ACP.
The pull on the hammer was very heavy so I decided to change out the hammer and trigger spring. When I did I found that the top screws on the grip frame were not tight. I also found that if I tighten the two top screws it puts the hammer in a bind.
I took the grip frame off and the hammer swings free. I then took all the internals out and put the grip frame back on with all the screws tight. The outside surfaces of the grip frame and receiver are flush. When I look inside the gun where the grip frame meets the receiver, the grip frame is not flush with the receiver. On one side there is a ridge of about .0020 on the inside of the grip frame where it is too thick.
Is there a way I can get the inside of the grip frame to match the inside of the receiver? I only need to clearance enough room for the back curve of the hammer to swing free. Maybe a 3/4" quarter moon shape.
Anyone have any experience getting these surfaces to match?
