Ruger #3 Front Swivel

Have question re the front barrel band on my #3. Was going to put one of the Uncle Mike's detachable swivels on it where it joins together with the bolt, however, when I put the extrusion into the slot and tighten the barrel band it's too loose to do any good? I've seen these on other examples and I'm wondering if per chance I have the wrong barrel band on it?

Nope. You'll have to remove some metal from the existing band in order for it to have enough room to compress tight again. Think of it in terms of you just stuck a big ole washer in there. If it were me I tried to take the "slack" up by removing some the barrel band AND the swivel rather all from one or the other.
