Mini 14 Front Sight

I don't own a Mini 14, but just have a question about the front sights of the models with bayonet lugs.

If someone has no intention of mounting a bayonet on the rifle, can the user adjust the sight to run it to the muzzle so it's not so far back on the barrel? I'd think that the added sight radius would help, too.

Depends on the barrel diameter at the area you'd want to put it at. These are friction fit to the diameter of the barrel and pinned on. If the diameter is larger, you'd could open-up the sight diameter to make it fit. If the barrel is smaller, it won't work. And you'd have to be good at centering it and drilling the hole. Personally, I don't think there would be much benefit at iron sight distances. Mini-14's aren't really known as tack drivers.

But if you're talking about an original GB model, you'd be better off selling it and buying what you want. These usually bring a premium over standard models.

Why don’t you just buy a particular model that has the sight the way you want it?
Unless if your after the Walnut Stock of the 50th anniversary.???
But what’s not to like with a sticker on it…?
FWIW, I changed out the flash hider.

The front sight could be moved but it will leave a divot where the pin was.

One could change the barrel out to desired configuration.

Or if your wanting a Walnut Stock, hit me up…

Thanks for the replies. There's one for sale here locally and my interest is a little piqued. It's a GB model in stainless and a synthetic stock.

I just think the sight that far back looks a bit odd.

Last thing I need is another gun, especially a long gun, but Mini 14s always intrigued me a bit. Listed at $900 with 4 factory mags.

@G2 has the right idea...just get the bayonet to match...LOL
