How compatible/interchangeable is a Ruger 1911 to any series 70 style 1911?

I'm considering buying a complete slide to slip on a frame I have.

Assuming Ruger stuck to the original 1911 specs, it should be fine. But there's more to it than just the fit on the rails.

Understood, but if is totally different I’d never get to normal tuning.
