Does anyone make an aftermarket barrel for the Ruger TD yet?

I see that Davidsons is selling a TD with a threaded barrel. Is there somewhere that sells Ruger parts that I can check to see if just the barrel is available?

Has anyone threaded there TD barrel yet? What did you do about the front sight?

Thanks
Pat

I haven't yet but I have looked into it. Biggest thing I can see at this point is if it is threaded, it looses the sights and keeps the scope. At least for the foreseeable future.

I am really interested in a bull barrel for this thing. I have sent a message to a few of the bull barrel manufacturers but have heard nothing back to date. I think ill have to check out the Davidson's.

The front sight band can be removed and reamed so it can be set back behind the threaded protion.... There have been several posted.

I looked my TD barrel over and it appears that the front sight base is machined out of the barrel blank and not press fit on. Has anyone else taken a close look? Am I missing something?

I assumed that I could have the front barrel band set back and have the barrel threaded...maybe not.

I did find that Volquartsen makes a barrel that fits a stock contour stock then flares back out to a bull barrel. The back end would have to be modified to fit the TD action.

I spoke to a local gunsmith i have used several times, about this very issue today. He says he has threaded several TD's and the front sight is removed because is machined into the barrel. I am sure there could be something that could be added... something like this... http://www.nodakspud.com/NDS-22.htm.

I must say, I shot the TD today for the first time and the trigger is awful. After looking into the threaded barrel, I believe it is time to upgrade the trigger and wait on the barrel threading. May be best to just wait for a better barrel to hit the market.

how about having your factory barrel threaded?

http://jpgrips.com then click on his page called: "10/22 Barrel Threading with Front Sight" (the fifth page down in left-hand menu)

he has great pixs showing the result and price doesn't look to bad either...
(i have nothing to do with his company nor have i used them, yet)

Does anybody know what the catalog number of the 10/22 takedown is with threaded barrel?

It is a Davidson's exclusive. You can go to Davidsons webpage and search for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown and it should come up. They are on allocation, which means are in limited supply.

My first post. I had Jim Pixley ( jpgrips.co ) thread the barrel on my Walther G22. Because of the factory front sight location, he had to first machine an adapter for the barrel to accept the 1/2-28 threaded section. (Read P22 type adapter) As a " Home Shop Machinist/Hobby Machinist", I will tell anyone that Jim's machine work is beyond awesome..! I recently purchased a Ruger 10/22 TD for my collection?. The first thing I did, before ever firing the gun, was send my barrel to Jim for threading.
I had him shorten the barrel to 16.5" & move the front sight back. Once again, his work is perfect!
Turn around time is 7 to 10 days & the return shipping is included in the price quoted.

I sent my TD barrel to Que and he cut the barrel back to 16" and threaded the end and filled in the rear sight slot.

Can't use iron sights too good anymore so I had no need to worry about losing the front sight post to have it threaded.

Yeah...but Davidson's doesn't give the actual catalog number of most of their Ruger's these days, only the model number.
I still need the catalog number.
Thanks!
Also, anybody have any sn's to report on this one?
