Saw this on Davidsons. Is this a mistake or real?

Since Ruger is not making any cataologued #1s this year and Davidsons does make special run orders, therealso is a chance that it is a limited run off the books rifle. Anyone ask?

Thought about it being a distributor thing but with just 1 available? I'd expect at least a decent amount ship were it such.

I saw a #1 with laminated wood and stainless in 708 a few
years ago. Have never seen one in blue/walnut.

If that is truly 11364 on the Model number (your pic came out a little blurry on my monitor) then I would say Ruger has definitely made at least a few, or are in the process of doing so. #11364 is the newest Ruger model number I have noted.
If anybody hears, I'd be interested in knowing how many Davidson's is getting. Or maybe it is a TALO issue??
By the way...26" barrel....sounds like a 1B to me.

I think this is a "look" at what we can expect for the "B" probably doesn't even have to be a distibutor ordered gun, rather Ruger will be introducing small BUT listed through wholesalers runs of cartridges they hope will sell in the "B" from time to time.

Which is about half of what many of us spent YEARS trying to get WR introduce something new from time to time to give collectors to buy.
After all you can't really SHOOT them all!! As some point, about 8 or ten it gets to be a chore if you REALLY plan on shooting them all. I know I have many that haven't been fired in YEARS, like 10,15 20 years.

I guess time will tell. This 7-08 would be fun and INTERESTING but I alrady own 7x57s and 280s and ........................... At some point the "Hole" gets so small it hard to even call it a niche purchase. ;-) I encourage ANYBODY that needs or wants a well balanced, accurate 7mm to buy this thing, PLEASE!!!!! :-)

It should be in my safe by Friday :D
Serial is 134-334**
I have seen 7mm-08 in the 1A blued/walnut and 1B stainless/laminated, but never a blued and walnut 1B. Any ideas on from whence this came?

You may be a lucky man!! Ruger may have made a one-only believe it or not. When you receive this one, be sure to send me a PM so we can get it documented in the Reference. For now, can you confirm that it is Ruger model number 11364?
The Reference is my attempt to document everything Ruger has ever done in firearms, to the smallest nuance, so that collectors of the future will have a reference source (Ruger doesn't do that kind of thing, so I have been for the last 32 years or so). Unfortunately, they'll probably never tell you how many they made of that one either.

I'll have more details when I pick it up on Friday.

The following are the contents of this shipment:
Qty Item-No Item-Description
--------- --------------- ------------------------------
1 11364 RUG 1B 7MM-08 SNG SHT W/RINGS

Well, I suppose Ruger had an 1B barreled action laying around there, so the rest is history.
Maybe a one-only production run???

I picked it up today. I am assuming the "S" on the box means seconds or something of that nature. Could this be 1 of 1?

That "S" isn't for "second" in this case. It may mean "Special" but I've seen the "S" on a lot of different labels, so not sure if it is anything in particular.
Until somebody comes up with another, you may indeed have a 1 of 1.
I'm doing a paragraph on this one in the lastest issue of RENE (yup...am late again, but stuff like this keeps popping up and I feel I need to get it in there somewhere!). Will hopefully mail the issue on Monday.

Does this have regular walnut/checkering? I'm just wondering if it might have Circassian wood and have the S stamp for that reason.
This may be another unannounced run like the 30-30, 257 Roberts, etc. If so, there should be some more showing up on the auction sites soon.

Seems to be just the regular walnut. I'll get full pics up later.

I hope it is not another unannounced run!!!

Even though this particular gun caught my eye online, I have to admit I don't understand what makes it so rare. Is it that Ruger never made these in 7mm-08, or a 1B specifically in that caliber, or just that there are no guns ("B" or otherwise) slated to be made this year?

I ask because there are a few #1s on Davidsons in various calibers, and this may just be the year I end up with one. See my next post for questions on that.

Thanks for any info,

Why is it rare?? Because as of right now it's the only known blue/walnut 7-08 "B". They made other blue/walnut 7-08s "A" and they made Walnut/stainless "B"s but this is the first blued/walnut "B" any of us have seen.

KInda cool. My problem would be that I already own a 7x57 blued/walnut "B" and a 280 Rem "B" and a 7mm Mag "B" so for shooting hw to rationalize the 7-08?

Interesting rifle, regardless.

Ah, that's what I thought, thanks.

It is funny how, when you're not a collector and not up on the data surrounding these, how some can command a premium while others not. Like the .243 "V", for instance (per the topic I started).

And similarly, I can get a brand new .223 "B" for ~$200 less than any other #1 model, and can't figure out why. Popular caliber, lots in stock, blue/walnut...
