Has anyone done a round butt on their Bisley grip? I really like the look and would like to do my Super Black Hawk Bisley. Any advice on how to do this?

I did it to an old XR3 frame i have. One thing id recommend is making sure you keep it square. I got mine a lil off kilter and liked to NEVER got it back right. I like it tho.

Just make sure you got enough meat on the back to round it without getting into a dimple and changing the width. You can see here i have a little more room and may take the bottom down a little more but at the top of the curve, im about as far as i can go.

I had mine done by a local gunsmith. I love it! Nipped the front and back of the lower grip, tapered the wood grips down. Excellent job, for $85.00!

Here is a pic of one. The customer sent me his frame and I made the grips. I don't know if he did the work on the frame himself or not, but it was very nicely done. Maybe if he sees this he will give some info on it. If I remember correctly the front was rounded a little also.
Beautiful gun ! You may not notice that it also has a lanyard ring.

Andy Horvath did this one. He also did my 41 Special with a rounded corner and it really feels nice.

Not a Bisley, but I did have an XR3 Red Super Blackhawk that the gripframe was pretty well de-horned, front and back. Don't know who did the work, but it was a great job. As far as grips and gripframes go, this became an immediate favorite. Haint seed it for a while, so I must've sold it.

I wish Ruger would offer this as a treatment for all their SA's.

WAYNO.

That one's mine and here's its brother, a .45Colt Bisley Vaquero. Both were done by Clements and only rounded on the heel.

CraigC both guns look great. Who did the rear sight on the vanquero?

This was my hunting gun and I got tired poked with the plow handle points so I dehorned it . This grip frame was on my store keeper
I made originally and worked good on this hunting carry gun . I recut forcing to 11 degrees . I love the look of the Bisley but it
don't fit me and let the gun roll in my hand .

My first cobbled together 475 L of years ago now wears a Clement's Bisley RB that was originally on a piece I later sold to Robb (45 Colt S&W sighted Vaquero?). While it ain't pretty it is my piece at the Idaho place and is very comfortable though a bit less than classic visually. A very comfortable piece.

I did two of them and sent them both down the river. Loved how they felt holding the gun, but not actually shooting them.

I don't have the pics on me now, will post em later, have a regular black hawk that I round butted, both front and back. Love it. Sent it to Huntington for action job and octagon barrel. Sweetest gun I own, for now.

Huntington is almost finished with a bisley vaquero 4" octagon, that he is round butting too. I will post pics when it gets here.

Great looking revolvers folks....I don't have big hands , and after the mod. on my Bisley, it fit even better. I considered doing mine myself, so I made a wood template or three to practice on. Found out that to get that rounded effect on the steel, I needed to loosen the belt on my 2" belt grindera bit. A little pressure on the wood would make the belt give and sorta wrap around the wood. Worked great! then.... on the second wood template...the damn grinder checked out of the net!! kaput... It was only 25 years old... sad to see it go at such a young age.. that's why I had a pro do it. Cheaper than replacing the grinder!

Cheaper but as soon as you have another need for it, you'll wish you had purchased another grinder. Can't have too many tools.
