I got word just over a week ago that my daughter, Linda, had suffered a stroke and was in the hospital in Augusta, Georgia. I finally got in touch with a doctor there and he told me it was a bad one, not the worst he had seen, but bad. She was in the trauma unit of the hospital there. I kept in touch as best as I could, she remained comatose for several days. Further reports were that it was not as bad as originally thought, and she was showing signs of improvement.
In time she was transferred from the trauma unit to intensive care, and finally to a room. I got a call yesterday just after noon that she was awake. She could not walk, and could not put together complete sentences. This broke my heart even more.
Then yesterday evening, her mother called me and said Linda had called her and they talked for about fifteen minutes over the phone, and that she sounded like her normal self, except from being weak. Prayers have gone up on her behalf from my church and friends here in Memphis. I'm in no position to go there right now, so just sit and sweat it out and pray.
I regret not having advised y'all of this before, as y'all are family to me, but seems like I really had nothing to report at the time.
