Dryer roller help?

I have an old Maytag gas dryer. I replaced the rollers about 8 years ago and forget what I put on there for lube. Took it apart and the rubber wheels were worn. Rubber was burnt onto the burner pipe part a little. Cleaned everything up and ended up putting the old wheels back in with a little graphite powder on the shafts. Ran great for two loads. Today I washed again and it was squealing. What type of lube is the best? Also the wheels are just a metal tube on a metal shaft. How do you really tell if they are worn out? Don't seem to have a lot of play.

I guess I'll take it apart again tomorrow or the next day and see what it looks like in there. I went with the dry graphite powder because the wheel is right above the burner and I was worried about fire.

I cleaned and lubed the rollers on my LG gas dryer with a synthetic axle grease. You can find it at PepBoys, AutoZone , O'Reilly's, etc....
Normally these rollers aren't supposed to be greased as they have bronze collars rolling on hardened steel shafts. However so far the synthetic bearing grease has held up well.

I think I used white lithium grease last time, but I do have a tub of the grease used on brake slide pins. I think I'll try that very sparingly. It is basically like you say. syn grease.
