ROA parts

Help Support Ruger Forum:

Try placing a "WTB" ad here in our classifieds to start with.
Next, Numrich gun parts, or Jack First gun shop on S. Dakota might have what you need.
Or, have you tried Ruger?

ROA Base Pins are just not out there, There was a guy that was taking apart OA's and selling the parts to keep us going, but within the past month he is getting out of the ROA Parts Business.

Belt Mountain currently makes a pin that can be used to shoot only, no loading lever accomadation.
HOWEVER ,,,,, Rumor has it,
Belt Mountain is in the process of making some Original Spec Base Pins.

So go feed the horses, kick your boots up and hold on.

my brother runs a machine shop that is equiped with CNC tools ..if I could talk the owner into letting brother make some SS base pins ...I wonder what kind of market there would be because he would have to make several 100 to cover start up cost & tooling set up ?? ...thanks for the help

My opinion would be he could sell 100 no problem over the next few months when the word got out.
But should Belt Mountain indeed make them, they own the market when it comes to making good high quality base pins for a good price & very reasonable shipping charges.

tough call to go into making things for a "market" that is no longer even 'supported' even by the factory,BAD investment !
besides too many GOOD machinists out there , ready and will to make what you need, find a "retired' one ,with time on his hands ( ha ha...)
great high school machine shop "project", just don't take the "whole" gun to school

If I were you I wouldnt listen to everything said here or anywhere without first finding out for myself. People may mean well but not know.
If you need an absolute stock part for a Ruger, call Ruger or go online to Brownells. If your too lazy to go online to Brownells call them, go to tech, tell them what you need and they look it up for you.
Base mnt used to sell slightly oversized base pins for ruger SA guns.

don't like to be called "lazy" ...I'm 65yrs. with heart problems working [2] full time jobs & taking care of a handicapped wife who cannot walk ...have talked with Ruger, Belt Mountain, Brownells & Numrich ...base pin not available ...I posted to get some good info not get insulted by some numskull...go crawl back under your rock ...have a nice day idiot

+1
Ruger does not have any parts for the Old Army. They have not had any for the last couple of years.
What is wrong with your base pin??? They do make an after market base pin that doesn't use the loading ram. I take the cylinder out of mine and load with a press. Much easier than loading in the gun IMHO

I was given a OA for nothing & loading system parts were gone ...I have found & bought all the parts on line except base pin ...would be kinda hard to load & shoot when I walk in the woods with a press ...I do have a shooting range but I also have access to thousands of acres of farmland to shoot on & thats where I normally shoot ...this is a blued gun but I took parts out of my SS & it shoots very good just need a base pin...thanks for the support ...take care ...Kent

Try Kelye at Belt Mountain up in Montana.

Try Jack First Gun Parts in Rapid City, SD They actually make small runs of gun parts and
may have what you need.

Search the web via Google or something similar.

They're out there!

flatgate

Its seems that Brownell's carries very little in the way of Ruger original parts anymore, its was different about 10 years ago, (when I last ordered from them) I bought every screw, base pin and base pin latch, in blue to spiff up my high gloss stainless steel 32 SS birds head. Numrich carries a small mount of parts as well, mostly screws and pins, very few of the major parts are available for cartridge revolvers and even less for the Old Army

What about springs? Not Main/hammer spring, but ones like the one that is part of the mechanism that turns the cylinder?

I just picked up a '77 blued OA and like it, and am looking to get a spare of each spring and other potential high wear parts.

Do base pins wear out that much? I'm new to BP pistols.

I have see on eBay, base pins which are new manufacture, but are the style used by Ruger, for use with the rammer assembly, not like the Belt Mountain variety, they were around $70 and in Stainless Steel only, just a thought

Here is the eBay link:

Search under Black Powder gun parts
