Probably just a rant here, but if anyone has any ideas….

I have been on both the Midway and Brownells product waiting list for several months, to no avail. I am trying to get a blued and stainless Bisley trigger, and a Super Blackhawk and Montado hammer. The blued trigger popped up as available a few weeks back but by the time I logged in and put one in my cart they were gone.

I know that these parts can be obtained through other sources such as EBay and private party, but I just can’t bring myself to pay 2-3 times Midway prices.

So… today I called customer service and I was told that these parts were not sold to the general public as they had to be fit. I know better but policy is policy. I asked if I submit serial numbers as if they were replacement parts but still no dice.

Like I said- probably just a rant, unless someone knows the secret handshake to get Ruger to sell some of these parts to me…

The Montado should not even be on the site. There's no chance it comes back as Ruger themselves stopped making them ... unless they re-started and I never heard.

I used to have an eBay notification for the Montado hammer if one came up for sale. I bought and sold two. Got more than $100 each for them. That's been at least five years.

There's four on eBay right now for $150.

That's the crazy thing, and probably what has kept me from buying one. I have an online notification at Midway. They had some about 6 months ago, for $29.99 each (IIRC). But by the time I got to checkout they were gone. I've since changed my notification preferences so that I'll be notified immediately no matter what. Same thing happened with the $14 blued Bisley triggers. That was right before my birthday and by the time I had filled my cart to take advantage of the birthday discount, the triggers were gone.

This is the longest I’ve seen them not have Bisley triggers and Super hammers in stock.

I'd be willing to pay double- but 5 times retail? No thank you.

It's crazy. I've been pricing multiple parts and they are all listed at 3-5 times what Midway sells them for. A man could make good money just flipping parts!

I am still not sure Midway had out of production parts unless they are reproductions. The other possibility is that Midway sends spoof "in stock" emails to get you to their site. I see posts on this forum over ten years ago about how hard Montado hammers are to get from Ruger ... why would Ruger sell them to Midway? Ruger hasn't made them in years and required a Montado serial number to get one from them as far back as 2011. Maybe Power Custom or someone makes them now?

Ruger doesn't sell or ship any parts that are critical to actual operation of a firearm to people. It's due to the potential liability issues when a "kitchen table Bubba that calls himself a gunsmith" type screws up something & hurts or kills someone. Ruger will repair or replace parts themselves on many of their guns. But selling parts to individuals or even gunsmiths doesn't happen. UNLESS it's a Ruger Factory trained gunsmith." Liability.

Not sure who makes the hammers & such for Midway & others,, but you have to be quick to purchase when they appear,, as many people have stuff in their notification carts.

I would try Power Custom for BH parts. Ron passed last year and it appears that Randall is selling off everything on eBay and the PC website. Ron was a great man, excellent gunsmith and an even better story teller. I was privileged to take S&W, Ruger BH and 10-22 classes with him several times. He will surely be missed by the firearms community.

If you put your name on the online gun store notification lists you'll probably get what you want, maybe not tomorrow but you'll get it "if" you act quickly. Stay logged in on their sites and check your email often.

Interesting. I actually just bought a PC Bisley trigger on EBay. The paperwork that came in the package gave no indication that there was a sell-off in progress. I did make an offer which was accepted. I might have to get another set before they are no more…

When I see some parts on gun broker or Ebay that I think are "fairly" priced I buy them with a buy it now option if available. Oftentimes there's a number of bidders or watchers looking for a great deal and they lose but a fair price is OK by me :-)

I must have gotten lucky. I got on the MidwayUSA waiting list last year and was notified in a month or two. I immediately placed the order for two Montado hammers and received them promptly.
