Just purchased an Old Model .22, 9 1/2" Single Six Barrel that has a ring bulge in the center, just ahead of the ejector rod housing screw. You can feel it and barely see it on the outside. its shows as a shadow inside the bore. other than this its in good shape. I bought it to restore a Single Six I have that was originally a 9 1/2' , but had been cut down by a previous owner, who did a very nice job. I suppose I could look for the perfect barrel, and may. None the less, are there any concerns I should have about using this barrel as is? I'm guessing that its location shouldn't really affect accuracy. I would appreciate your thoughtful advice. I plan to swap barrels myself, and found a great guide for this (which I printed) in this forum by Jim. Thanks for your assistance, Pat

One other question I have; this Single Six was a 1968. The 9 1/2" barrel simply says Sturm Ruger and the address. Are these of matching vintage? Thanks

I don't think you'd have any problems using the barrel as far as safety goes. Accuracy,, who knows? Until tried,, you won't know.

As for the barrel markings I think the "inc" was added in 1969 if my faded memory is correct. But I'd have to research it a bit before I could say for sure.

I bought a “gunsmith special” MK-I 30 years ago with two bulges in the barrel. One VERY visible externally, the other you had to look for. Internally they were both obvious.

It shot very well. Actually regret letting that one go.

Thanks for the replies. This barrels swap will be one of my retirement (imminent) projects
