A rimfire conversion can be done at least three ways with respect to ignition. Which way did you choose?
New barrel or lined factory? Did you get to specify the specific chamber dimensions?
There is a guy, Moyer, that advertises a conversion on his website and has a video on youtube.
I can discuss any of the three basic methods if you wish. I do my own work, and have converted no.1's from centerfire to rimfire via the lifting arm method and the breechblock modification method(moving firing pin via bushing). Not a lot to it labor wise, once you get into it.
Shooter: Did you ever complete this No. 1V conversion to rim fire project? I considering converting an RSI donor in .257 to a .22 Magnum. I wanted a short barrel for ease of carrying and use by a grandson. I do not plan to use the RSI stock and forearm, but have a custom stock with cheek piece and Alex Henry forearm with a barrel band made.
I found a gun smith in Michigan who has experience with inserting a sleeve in the donor barrel and relocating the firing pin. Brass Frame/Lee in Ohio
Nope, never gone the rim fire route. Just not one of the things I covet. Frankly I don't get it but that is a personal thing. The 17 Mach IV/Fireball will do anything any of the rim fire 17s will do and I expect, cheaper.
I have and so do other family members have #1s in various small 17 caliber center fires and a couple of 221 Fireballs but have never have the need/want/desire for a rim fire.
A 22mag is just not an inherently accurate caliber, so converting a rifle as nice as a 1V over seems to be a bit of a waste............so like picketpin "I don't get it"..........but that's neither here nor there.
