So, is the shortage over? I went to Cabelas, Sportsmens Warehouse, and 2 other sporting goods places along with a local gun shop today. Everyone had rimfire ammo and plenty of it. Prices were down too. I think, for now, the rush is over here in the PNW. How about your area?

The only place I've seen in Metro Atlanta that is out of 22LR is WalMart. Everyone else has a descent supply/

People aren't panicking because they're not afraid that they can't get any after the next executive order. They're pretty sure, with the guy in the white house now, that they'll be able to get some tomorrow, next week or next month.

I have found rimfire ammo available, even at Wal-Mart here locally. Prices remain at .08 / Rd and up except bulk buckets of cardboard bulk boxes. Several offers on Slickguns.com offer .22LR for as little as .05 to .06 per round.

Wal-Mart even had 22WMR the last week or so but at $15.67 for 50 rounds. Not cheap but better than not being available.

Dave...

Interesting. Up here on the hill, BiMart has no .22 ammo, Fred Meyer has a limited selection of Armscor, and the WalMarts on 82nd have no .22 ammo.

Although improved, the shortage is now better described as selective.

WAYNO.

All I can say is I was 5 for 5 today in availability. Even 22mag! I agree that it isn't a scientific measuring stick, but still encouraging! :D

I am seeing more on the shelves, but not what I would call fully stocked. I haven't seen any mini mags at all. I see mostly foreign products.

My LGS has a good supply. LR and .22 Magnum. WalMart is hit and miss. I quit buying ammo there. I stocked up on M193 and M 855 in the 420 round steel cans when Lake City was selling to walmart

Here where I live, I haven't seen 22LR in Walmart for a couple of years. Still none. Go to Sportsmans Warehouse and they have plenty but their pricer doesn't seem to know the price has gone down. Same with Cabelas. I'm not much of a shopper so haven't hit Freddies, or any of the other Walmarts. And I haven't been to Sportsmans or Cabelas in a month or so.

Haven't had a problem with .22 (lr or wmr) here in nearly a year. Good variety and no "rationing". Prices are still a little higher than I'd like, but so is everything else. I keep hoping the local Airforce base BX will get with the program and start carrying ammo and guns.

Been readily available around here for a long time. Full shelves at my usual haunt. Even at the peak of this shortage, finding it online wasn't difficult. Funny though how people would complain and rant about the prices for the cheap bulk fodder yet scoff at paying the same for the actual GOOD stuff.

Now that the manufacturers have gotten the price, and their profit, to triple, .22 rimfire is literally all over the place around here. I can't speak for Walmart, but every Dick's and gun shop is lousy with the stuff (at $35 - $40 a brick)............. But, hey, it's twice as expensive to get the LearJet washed and waxed nowadays, so I won't complain too much about ammo.

redhawker,
I bought scads of .22 and .22WMR when Pookie got elected in back in '08.
Really chapped my wife, but I have no problem digging in my ammo sack for
.22LR or even .22Shorts.

The Wal-Mart "breakfast club" is still buying up all the 22LR available and selling it at local gun shows at a large mark-up.
Small local gun shops have it though. :)

Will they ever make those .22 CB shorts again?
Do you have any interest in the .22 CB longs? The CCI CB longs have been in short supply, but CCI told me they are still a current item, just not in production, so email them. It's my favorite pest bullet. I bought some Winchester CB Match longs rated at 770 fps that looked promising enough that I bought 1,300 of them.

Plentiful here in NH and has been fir probably over a year now...prices are still priced higher than prior to the shortage but I think they will slip a little in the coming year and then stabilize until the next crisis....

None up McMinnville way, Heliman. Bi-Mart had about 4 or 5 50-round boxes of the Mexican made Aguila (Eagle) brand target ammo. At $4.59 for 50 rounds, I passed.

I got 4 500-round bricks of Blazer 22 ammo online last month for $30 ea, free shipping. I refuse to pay more than that for plinking ammo. I'd rather handload 32's or 357's than pay $50+ for 22 rimfire.

Anyone know how the Wal-Mart "breakfast club" guys are able to clean out every shipment in minutes given a two box limit? I have not seen a .22 box, let alone a brick in the local Wal-Mart in years.

Occasionally our Bi-Mart has some brinks at a good price but you have to ask as they are not on display.

Same deal here in my little town. There are a few outlets around here other than Wally World, but gun show pricing has pretty much spread everywhere over the past 5 years or so. It's still cheaper to buy on line for me.

The new Field and Stream store here in Medford has plenty of .22LR in several brands. They've kept about a pallet load in the store since they opened. Prices aren't too bad around six cents per round or a wee bit more. Other shops here have lesser supplies and higher prices, still haven't seen any at Walmart in a long time.

If the manufacturers tripled their profit how come I've never had to pay more than 25% more not 300% more?
Answer the lgs and stores got most of the profit.
Manufacturers raised prices some, distributors raised the price some but the end sellers raised it the most.

It's available here in southern California. I imagine at the end of the year we will have a huge rush to buy it before the ammo registration goes into affect. Not sure what idiots voted for that but thanks. We'll see if california even has the funds to create a system. Most shops have plenty of it at the average price of $5 for a box of 50. It's been on "sale" for $4 a box.

I quit even trying at Walmart, especially since one of our larger LGS is selling it on sale for less than Walmart!!!!
