Even though I checked over my new Bisley Hunter pretty carefully at the dealer when I got home I noticed a couple of what I thought were minor cosmetic flaws. A bit of Scotchbrite fixed a "smudge" on the ejector housing "good as new". As I was figuring out mounting the scope I noticed that there was a bigger flaw than I had realized in one of the machined mounting points. It looked like the rib had actually been pinched or twisted when the machining was done.
I took the Bisely back to the dealer and they are sending it back. No problem at all. A replacement is on order. Now I am *very* glad that I ordered locally through a dealer with a good reputation for customer service. It was worth the "extra bucks".
Would Ruger have taken care of me on this? Probably.... but to make it right I think that a new barrel would have to be installed.
Do I question Ruger's quality control? Yep. I currently own five Ruger firearms, including four stainless handguns. All purchased over twenty years ago. Not one factory flaw...nada.
